Dynamic Voronoi animation of falling sphere
An old animation of mine, showing a bunch of falling spheres that fall into a jar. I’ve been meaning to put online for a while – here it is!
Frictional spheres are simulated by discrete element methods as they fall into a cylindrical container under the influence of gravity. The Voronoi diagram of the spheres is computed for each frame, and displayed for roughly the fraction of beads that are already within the container.

I thank Gary Delaney (CSIRO Melbourne) for the DEM simulation data from which this animation is developed, and Matthias Hoffmann (Erlangen) for help with computing the Voronoi diagram.
